Obtaining an Invitation

To join this wiki, you need to be an Austin Independent School District employee or authorized guest. Austin IT staff will send an invitation to district email addresses to activate writing permissions on this wiki.

To get an invitation, click any 'Login' link on the page.  Next, click the 'Contact owner' link. You will have the opportunity to send us an email to request an invitation. Please use your aisd email address and provide your name in the message box. You will receive an email once the request is processed.  Just click the link to activate your invitation.

The invitation email will come from an 'austinisd.org' email address, not the pbwiki.com domain.

Teacher Portfolio Pages

AISD teachers and staff will have a portfolio page generated with their invitation request. Click the large 'Teacher Portfolio' picture to get to the index page for portfolios. The teacher's name will appear alphabetically in the list on that page. Clicking a name will take you to that teacher's portfolio.

These portfolios are not confidential. At times, they will serve as a museum walk at the conclusion of IT training sessions. Teachers are encouraged to view other portfolios so that this professional learning community will continue to learn from each other.

Editing Your Portfolio Page

Clicking your name the first time will take you to your new wiki portfolio page. You are automatically placed in 'Edit' mode and see the normal word processing tool bar icons above the writing space.  Please follow the format given on the Portfolio Index page, but otherwise you are free to creatively express yourself.

Uploading Files

Teachers will be using their portfolio to show what they have learned in technology workshops. Some workshops will have the teacher uploading documents, file, or embedding media from other websites.  We will have to have a certain protocol for uploading files so that teachers will be able to manage all the pieces of their portfolio.

When in View mode, the Upload link will be visible in the top right section of the wiki page. Clicking that link will take you to a page where you will browse to find the file, select it, and then click the Upload button to have the file saved to the wiki server.

When in Edit mode, you can insert images or files by clicking the, um, 'Images and files' tab. Click Browse to find the file, select it, and then click Upload. The file will show up below the Browse button with 'New' next to it. Place it on the page just by clicking the filename you just uploaded.

You can click and drag the image to have it placed anywhere on the page as an inline graphic.

Where's the Sidebar?!

"Yikes! I was looking for the sidebar so I could quickly go back to the front page and it's not there!" No worries. The sidebar can be collapsed by clicking the little triangle in the top right corner of the wiki window.  BTW, you can always click the AISD Apple near the top left of the wiki window and it will also take you to the front page.

How Do I Turn On and Off Notifications?

I would like to be notified anytime somebody updates their pages. That way, I know when there are new workshop listed on the workshop page.  How do I do this?

Each pbWiki user has their own account setup so that you can control your notificaiton levels. You can click on 'account' at the top right of the page to enter your account setup. Click the 'Home' tab to see which pbWikis that you belong to. You can click or unclick the enable box to turn on and off notifications.
